In a children’s hospital, who decides what makes a good doctor or a good nurse?
Exactly. The kids themselves. A group of patients at the Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis (Wilhelmina’s Children’s Hospital) launched their own inspiring recruitment campaign: ‘WKZ winners looking for a winning WKZ team.’ They start their own blog and try to get as much promotion and media attention as possible. It works: They’re asked to record a radio commercial with RTV Utrecht and their own television commercial is shown on the Utrecht Central Station grand screen. They’re given bus sticker advertising and bus stop posters, they arrange for an airplane to drag a ‘winner’s banner’ over the city and they’re interviewed for Hart van Nederland (Dutch TV channel SBS6). Meanwhile, an increasing number of WKZ patients join the campaign, which has become part of the hospital’s leisure programme.
